Muslim politician Atiq Ahmed, his brother killed in police custody in India

 The 60-year-old Muslim politician and former Samajwadi Party MP, Atiq Ahmed and his brother, Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf, were killed in police custody in BJP-ruled state Uttar Pradesh.

The Hindutva police personnel in civics killed Atiq Ahmad and his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf while they were being escorted by police to a medical college in the presence of the police and the media in Prayagraj area of the state on Saturday night.

The terror incident occurred just two days after Atiq Ahmad’s son and brother were killed by the UP police in a fake encounter in the Jhansi area of the state.

The brothers, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were killed in full view of camera crews around 10:00pm. The horrifying visuals were circulated widely on social media platforms and television channels.

The shooting that occurred around 10:00pm was caught on camera as media persons were following the duo who were being escorted to the hospital by police for a medical checkup.

The bullet-riddled bodies of Atiq Ahmad and Ashraf were taken away from the spot as tension gripped the area after the sensational killings.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has imposed Section 144 in seventy five (75) districts after killings Atiq Ahmad and his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf in Prayagraj.

The last rites of Atiq Ahmad’s son Asad, who was gunned down in a fake encounter in Jhansi on April 13, were performed in Prayagraj just hours before the shooting.
