The killers came in a police vehicle, shouted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ while shooting: Eyewitnesses of Atique Ahmed murder

Eyewitnesses of the Atique Ahmed murder have alleged that the shooters arrived in a police vehicle and they were wearing press cards.

“They shot seven bullets, police didn’t do anything, after shooting both Atique and Ashraf dead, they chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogans,” an eyewitness told reporters.

Another eyewitness alleged that police hatched this conspiracy to kill Atique.

In the disturbing videos of the assailants that emerged on the internet, they can be heard chanting the phrase “Jai Shri Ram” (Hail Lord Rama) after carrying out the brutal murder of Atiq and his brother.

Three individuals who posed as journalists and shot gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad at close range during a media event have been apprehended and recognized. They have been identified as Lavlesh Tiwari, Arun Maurya, and Sunny.

As per Lavlesh Tiwari’s Facebook profile, he is identified as a Bajrang Dal leader and claims to hold the position of Zila Sah Pramukh in the organization.

Sunny, who has a criminal record with 17 cases against him in Hamirpur district, is a resident of that area. Although he started studying at Lucknow University, he dropped out during his first year of B.A. studies. Three years ago, he was imprisoned for harassing a girl. Lavlesh Tiwari hails from Kotwali in Banda, while Arun Maurya comes from Baghela Pukhta village, which falls within the limits of Soron Kotwali police station in Kasganj. Sunny Singh is a well-known offender listed in the criminal records of the Kurara police station in Hamirpur district.

Media sources have reported that during the preliminary interrogation, the suspects have confessed to committing the crime as they aspired to establish themselves in the criminal world. However, the police have not released any official statement regarding the ongoing interrogation and are still questioning the accused.

During a press conference, the Prayagraj Commissioner of Police, Ramit Sharma, informed reporters that the trio of attackers were swiftly apprehended following the attack. According to Sharma, the suspects had infiltrated the group of journalists who were seeking quotes from Atiq and Ashraf at the time of the incident.

Several reports have suggested that the attackers posed as journalists, with one of them carrying an identification card and a microphone, to gain access to Atiq and Ashraf Ahmad.

At the time of the attack, while journalists were questioning Atiq about his time in police custody, he began to say, “Main baat yeh hai ki Guddu Muslim… (Actually, Guddu Muslim…) ” but was shot in the head before he could complete his sentence.
