The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has urged the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, to observe complete strike on October 27 to convey the world that they want immediate end to Indian occupation of their homeland.

It was on 27th October in 1947 when Indian troops had invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the Partition Plan of the subcontinent and against the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar also appealed all Kashmiris living across the globe to observe 27th October as Black Day. It said, Kashmiris are demanding their promised right to self-determination by all rightful means but India is suppressing the innocent Kashmiris with iron hand. Kashmir has been turned into a military garrison and disappearance, custodial killings, harassment and torture is the daily routine, it added.

Meanwhile, Senior APHC leader Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar appealed to the Kashmiri people to fully support the APHC call for the strike. He said that India unlawfully landed its troops in the territory on October 27, 1947 and occupied it, but the people of Jammu and Kashmir never accepted New Delhi’s illegal occupation. He deplored that Indian forces arrest some Kashmiri youth and subsequently kill them in custody, on daily basis to force them into submission. Moosvi urged India to shun its policy of obduracy and resovle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolutions.

The APHC leader urged the international community to take notice of the massive and systematic human rights violations by Indian forces in the occupied territory and send a UN team to IIOJK for monitoring the situation.

Another senior APHC leader, Moulvi Bashir Irfani, in a statement said that 75 years ago, on October 27, India landed its troops on the land of Kashmir and occupied it illegally, immorally and forcibly. He said that the zealous people of Jammu and Kashmir never recognized this illegal occupation by India and have been waging a struggle against it from the day one.

The leader said that during this time, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were martyred, thousands were tortured and disabled in various prisons, thousands were detained for years. Despite this oppression, India failed to suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people, he added. He said that despite all these atrocities, Kashmiris are determined to achieve their right to self-determination.
