In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of people staged protest demonstrations in Badgam and Jammu areas, today, against the ongoing eviction drives across the territory.

The protesters including woman and youth were holding various placards reading ‘stand up for your rights, ‘we want justice’, ‘it is time to wake up’. They raised slogans demanding an immediate rollback of the order calling for a removal of people from their land.

One such protest took place in Magam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The protestors said the Kashmiris are being deprived of their rights and their lands as well. “This is not a question of the present generations now; this is about the coming generations of Kashmir,” a protestor said. They said that if the occupation authorities were taking their land, it should first tell where shall we go? They called for an immediate halt to the ongoing eviction drive.

Another such protest took place in Sunjwan-Bathindi on the Jammu city’s outskirts when thousands of people, including women and children, hit the streets against the Modi regime’s ongoing anti-encroachment drive. The protesters also observed a complete shutdown in the areas.

They passed the main roads before staging a peaceful sit-in at a vast land adjoining the bypass. Representatives of almost all major political parties, including the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party and Congress joined the protest and demanded an immediate end to the drive.
