Hindu Rashtra, ban on Muslim seminaries added to wish list at Prayagraj event

More than a month after Hindutva figures had created furor in India and abroad by openly calling for genocide of Muslims at an infamous hate assembly in Haridwa, equally abhorrent calls for violence echoed from another similar event held in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) in Uttar Pradesh over the weekend. What’s more, the monks gathered there demanded that India be declared a Hindu Rashtra (a state exclusively for Hindus).

What’s all the more intriguing is that the very people who had organised the Haridwar event paradoxically styled as “Dharam Sansad” are behind the current “Sant Sammelan” going on in Prayagraj.

Addressing the gathering, a speaker demanded that the government wind up the globally renowned seminaries of Deoband and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and “make a list of those Muslims who issue Fatwas”.

The monks claimed “patriotic Muslims are part of the Hindutva fold and urged the supporters to campaign for “homecoming of Muslims” of those whose ancestors were Hindus and had embraced Islam.

The chief guest at the event was Sumeru Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Swami Narendranand Saraswati. He asked the people to start calling India a “Hindu Rashtra” even if the government does not declare the country one. “This,” he said, “would put pressure on the government to work towards making the country a Hindu nation.”

Alleging that the government is taking over muths and temples, Narendranand demanded that this should end, or similar treatment should be meted out to mosques and churches. He also called for revocation of minority status for Muslims.

The monk, who is given to spewing venom against Muslims and Christians, demanded capital punishment for conversion categorising it as a “treason against the country”.

Swami Anand Sawroop, an accused in the Haridwar hate speech case yet roaming free, asked his supporters to follow Bhagat Singh and bomb the legislative assembly if the government failed to declare the country a Hindu nation. He raised the bogey of overpopulation of Muslims claiming that at the time of Independence, there were 9 crore Muslims, but now are 40 crore conveniently ignoring the 2011 census that put the Muslim population at 17.2 crore.

The speakers at the event also demanded release of hate preacher Narsignanad Sarawati who was arrested in multiple cases including the one given in Haridwar.

Annapurna Bharti, a woman speaker and a prominent Hindutva hate figure, alleged the government of double standards. She said it was unduly targeting them while letting Asaduddin Owaisi and Tauqeer Raza go with their “provocative speeches”. She asked the crowd to write to the government for the release of Narsignanad and Narayan Singh Tyagi (aka Wasim Rizvi).

Swami Sindhu Sagar said Hindus have no hatred towards Muslims citing the example of former president of India late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who is respected by everyone.

All the speakers called for unity of Hindus irrespective of caste and class.

Jagadguru Swami Narendranand Saraswati demanded that Subhash Chandra Bose should be declared as the first prime minister of the country. Without naming Gandhi, he challenged the concept of father of nation.
