The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has clarified that the Tal Mahal does not have “locked chambers containing idols”. It has also stated that no temple existed at the site where the historical monument has been built.

The government agency maintained the same in an RTI reply sought by TMC spokesperson Saket Gokhale. This comes after petitions were filed in courts alleging existence of idols inside the Taj Mahal.

Reacting to the same, Gokhale said, “Hope the courts impose costs on all mischievous petitions by BJP/RSS & media focuses on actual issues.”

Gokhale is a well-known RTI activist. He has brought forth many crucial information through his activism.
