Bollywood film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is a deceitful tale of lies and propaganda aimed at fanning anti-Muslim sentiment across India.

For his film The Kashmir Files, Vivek Agnihotri, has made exaggerated claims on the violence against Kashmiri Pandits who fled their homes when Kashmiris intensified their indigenous struggle against India’s illegal occupation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir in 1989, says a report released, today, by Kashmir Media Service.

It said the film is another proof of growing religious polarization Modi has promoted since coming to power. “The Kashmir Files has been declared tax-free in all the BJP-ruled states. The movie is RSS-BJP’s latest weapons to foster prejudice against Muslims. It is also widely believed that the film has BJP government’s patronage and support. Not only Modi but several of his key ministers have praised the film,” it added.

The report said, The Kashmir Files is adding to the current atmosphere of anti-Muslim hate across India as calls for genocide of Muslims in and outside cinema halls have become a norm following screening of movie.

It pointed out that many Indian critics have acknowledged that ‘The Kashmir Files’ is a propaganda film. It said the director of the movie is known for his Hindu right-wing leanings.

Films depicting Muslim figures in a bad light have seen an upward trend in India under Modi, the report said, adding that the Bollywood is notorious for making films in which Muslims are demonized and criminalized.
