Homage paid to Jammu martyrs of November 1947

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to the Jammu martyrs of November 1947 and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the mission of their martyrs to its logical conclusion at all costs.

Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were butchered by the forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindu extremists in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.

The illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail said that Jammu massacre was the first act of systematic ethnic cleansing and the worst example of state terrorism after the illegal military occupation of Jammu and Kashmir carried out by India on 27 October 1947.

The APHC Chairman while commemorating the precious sacrifices by the Muslims of Jammu said, we are indebted to the sacred blood of 4 lac martyrs of Jammu and the Kashmiri people reiterate their pledge on this day to carry on the freedom struggle till it reaches its logical conclusion.

Masarrat Aalam Butt hailed the valour and steadfastness of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir who have been besieged by more than one million Indian troops and are facing the worst kind of genocide, barbarism and human rights abuses which the human history might not have witnessed so for.

The incarcerated APHC Chairman urged the United Nations Secretary General to take serious action against India for victimizing the people of Kashmir for demanding their inalienable right to self-determination. The world community should come forward under the auspices of the UN Secretary General for a peaceful exercise of plebiscite to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions as has been done in dozens of disputed territories all over the world like East Timor and Sudan, in the recent past, he maintained.

The Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar, paying homage to the victims of the Jammu massacre, said the ethnic cleansing of the Muslims of Jammu is an extremely painful chapter in the history of Kashmir freedom struggle. It said the gruesome murder of lacs of Muslims to change the demography of the occupied territory was an abhorrent act and it is a shame that it was done with impunity in a systematic and planned manner under the patronage of those in power.

The Hurriyat forum termed the sacrifices offered by Muslims of Jammu region as a great asset to the ongoing movement for right to self-determination. It added that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are committed to continue their struggle for securing their right to self-determination for which both leadership and people of the territory have offered and are still offering unprecedented sacrifices.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, in a statement in Srinagar said the great sacrifice of the martyrs of Jammu will always be remembered. He said the massacre of Muslims in Jammu was the most horrific event in the history of Kashmir and its bitter memories are still fresh in the minds of Kashmiri people even after the passage of more than seventy years. He urged the United Nations and the international community to play a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people to save them from the Indian brutalities.

The Kashmir Freedom Front spokesperson in a statement in Srinagar said the genocide of Kashmiris, which started in 1947, still continues and hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in IIOJK for demanding their right to self-determination but the world was acting as a mute spectator. He said the sacred blood of Kashmiri martyrs will definitely bring positive results and the Kashmiris will see the dawn of freedom soon.

Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the horrific process of massacre of Kashmiris started by Indian imperialism in the occupied territory 74 years ago is still continuing and it has resulted in the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent people for raising their voice for freedom. He said the massacre of lacs of Muslims in Jammu is a living example of Indian deception, treachery and deception. The spokesman said that the massacre had turned the Muslim majority in the Jammu region into a minority and now Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government was playing the same horrible game with the Muslims in the Kashmir Valley where amid Indian military siege the blood of the youth was being shed every day so that the majority of Muslims in the valley could also be turned into a minority.

Democratic Political Movement Chairman, Khawaja Firdous, in a statement in Srinagar said that the Jammu massacre was a black spot on India’s face. He said, the sacrifices of Jammu Muslims would never be forgotten and Kashmiris would continue their freedom struggle till complete success.

The Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi Jammu and Kashmir, Abdul Samad Inqilabi in a statement in Srinagar, said the Kashmiris will not allow the sacrifices of their martyrs go waste and will accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs.

The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Insaf Party, Bashir Ahmad Butt in a statement in Srinagar said right from the illegal and forcible occupation, the Indian establishment has carved out a secret plan to demolish the Muslim majority character of the territory. He added that the successive nefarious designs came into force, including the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A on 5th August 2019 which was a brazen violation of international law and the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League leaders, Mohammad Hamza and Rayis Ahmed, addressing a condolence meeting in Srinagar termed the Jammu massacre of November 1947 as the darkest chapter in the history of Kashmir. “In November 1947, an organized and systematic massacre of lacs of Muslims including women and children was carried out in Jammu under a well-thought-out conspiracy,” they deplored. Meanwhile, the JKPL also condoled the demise of prominent freedom lover Javaid Ahmed Shah of Islamabad. A party delegation led by Mohammad Iqbal visited the bereaved family members of Shah and expressed solidarity with them.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Young Mens League, Zahid Ashraf, in a statement in Islamabad condemned the mass killing of Muslims of Jammu region by the Dogra regime backed by communal Hindu and Sikh groups in November 1947.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Students and Youth Forum, Manzoor Ahmed Butt in his statement, paying glowing tributes to the hundreds of thousands of innocent Kashmiri Muslims, said that the massacre only strengthened the Kashmiris’ resolve to resist the occupational regime and pursue their dream of freedom.

Hurriyat leader, Abdul Hameed Lone, in a statement in Islamabad said that the massacre of Jammu Muslims was a conspiracy to change the Muslim majority status of Jammu into a minority. He added that the people of Kashmir would foil all nefarious designs of India and would continue their struggle till it reached its logical conclusion.
