Human rights defenders continue to face intimidation and harassment in India under Modi-led fascist Indian government as harassment and arbitrary detentions of rights defenders have become a norm in India.

Continuous persecution of rights activists has criminalized human rights work in India and it has become a fascist state under Prime Minister Modi, said a report released, today, by Kashmir Media Service.

It said Amnesty International in its ‘Annual Report’ 2021-22 slammed India for putting human rights defenders at heightened risk of surveillance by Modi government agencies in IIOJK.

Amnesty had said the Indian authorities used repressive laws to silence critics by curbing freedom of expression, adding human rights defenders, including activists, journalists, students, lawyers and actors, continued to face intimidation and harassment, the report maintained.

It said human rights defenders in India are targeted by using anti-terror laws and at least 14 rights activists continue to be detained under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) anti-terror legislation, the report said

The report said India must be pressured to stop persecution of rights activists and voices of dissent.
