The economy of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been worst hit since the unlawful scrapping of special status of the territory by Narendra Modi-led fascist government in August 2019 and there is no sector that hasn’t suffered losses in the last three years.

Backed by Hindu extremist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Modi regime is resorting to economic terrorism in the occupied territory to deprive the Kashmiris of their livelihood to punish them for demanding freedom from India, said a report released, today, by Kashmir Media Service. It said the people in IIOJK have almost reached to the level of starvation after India’s 5 August 2019 moves.

The report said, “India’s inhuman military siege of IIOJK following 5 Aug 2019 actions caused $3.5 billion in economic loss to the Kashmiris. Over 5 lac Kashmiris have lost their jobs since scrapping of IIOJK’s special status. India is systematically destroying IIOJK economy to starve the Kashmiris.”

The report pointed out that the Modi regime is dismissing Kashmiri government employees as part of its settler colonialism plan to strangulate the Kashmiris economically. Dozens of Kashmiris have been dismissed from their jobs during the last three years on concocted charges, it added.

The report said illegal confiscations, forced evictions and demolition of properties are part of India’s systematic settler colonialism campaign in IIOJK, adding that the Modi regime is enforcing a process of political, constitutional, cultural and economic disempowerment in IIOJK.
