Resolution passed at UK’s House of Commons calls for early Kashmir settlement

A resolution passed by the participants of the International Kashmir Conference held at the House of Commons in the United Kingdom condemned human rights abuses by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and demanded immediate resolution of the Kashmir dispute and release of all Hurriyat detainees including Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The conference was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, UK chapter, and was addressed by British parliaments, human rights activists, eminent intellectuals and various leaders from Kashmiri and Pakistani communities based in the UK.

A statement issued by the JKLF in London said well-known Kashmiri Pandit leader Sampat Prakash and Mushaal Mullick also spoke online.

The conference was held in connection with the International Human Rights Day. The unjust life sentence and early release of Muhammad Yasin Malik and other political prisoners, the incidents of human rights violations across IIOJK, and a dignified solution to the Kashmir issue were discussed.

The conference was held under the patronage and supervision of Prof. Raja Zafar Khan, Head of Diplomatic Bureau of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front.

According to the statement issued by the party’s central spokesperson Muhammad Rafiq Dar, the Member , UK Parliament Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, Labor Party MP Rachel Hopkins, Lord Qurban Hussain, Labor MP for Leeds Alex Sobel, Labor MP for Leeds Ms Hilary Bean, Conservative MP for Peterborough Conservative MP for Peterborough Paul Bristow, Conservative MP for Crawley Henry Smith and Scotland’s Kenny MacAskill MP for East Lothian, UN registered Jammu Kashmir Council for Human Rights Secretary General and legal expert Dr. Syed Nazir Geelani and Kashmiri leader Irshad Malik Advocate expressed their views.

The two-hour session of the conference was presided over by MP Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, while as the President Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Britain Zone Liaquat Ali Lone moderated the event.
