UN urged to send fact finding mission to IIOJK

The United Nations have been asked to send a fact finding mission to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to ascertain facts about deteriorating human rights situation and plight of Kashmiri political prisoners in jails of India and the territory.

A Kashmiri delegation addressing a press conference in Geneva deplored that the prisoners are subjected to inhuman treatment in the garb of anti-terrorism laws which are in contravention to international standards.

The delegation included Altaf Hussain Wani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Shameem Shawl, Sardar Amjad Yousuf and ,Muhammad Faheem Kayani.

They highlighted the plight of political prisoners and state of human rights situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

It was said that having failed in suppressing freedom struggle, India has resorted to inhuman tactics like slapping inhuman laws on Kashmiri leadership.

They said that Muhammad Yaseen Malik had been given life imprisonment without any fair trial while leaders like Syed Shabbir Shah, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Aasiya Andrabi, Muhammad Qasim Fakhtu and Altaf Shah were behind bars on fake and fabricated charges.

The delegation demanded the release of all Kashmiri political detainees including well-known human rights activists Khurum Parveez and Muhammad Ashan Untoo.

The presser unearthed the nefarious design of Indian state to change the demography of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Journalists are targeted and jailed on the account of publishing stories of human rights violations, they deplored.

The delegates urged international community to take notice of unprecedented situation in Kashmir.

The press conference was concluded with the demand of the United Nations to send its fact finding mission to occupied Jammu and Kashmir to assess the situation on ground.
