Buckling under the opposition’s pressure following the massive protests against Indian military presence in the Maldives, the ruling party MDP Chairperson MP Hassan Latheef has urged the government to adopt a more transparent approach in handling security agreements with India.
In a tweet made earlier today, MP Hassan Latheef stated that it vital that the government clarifies the public’s doubts and queries on the security agreement with India to construct and maintain the UTF naval base.
He further stated that it is important that the government clearly communicate with the public that are not trying to covertly sign and implement secret agreements and on how exactly the government is getting aid from India.
