Tipu Sultan, the great Muslim hero, respected as a national hero by Hindus and Muslims, also known as the Tiger of Mysore, and the pioneer of rockets, (the design of which the British copied, and used in their wars against Napoleon) wouldn’t have lost the war against the British, had Tipu’s most trusted army general, Mir Sadiq not betrayed Tipu’s trust.
Another traitor was the Nizam of Hyderabad who had contributed 10 battalions and more than 16,000 cavalry to the British to fight against Tipu Sultan..
The valour of this great hero was such that when the French military advisers told him to escape through a secret passage, he replied: “It is better to live one day as a tiger, rather than a hundred years as a jackal.”
