Kashmiri representative delegation held a meeting with the UN Special Rapporteur on right to development, Saad Alfarargi, on the sidelines of the ongoing 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva.

The delegation members during the meeting apprised the Special Rapporteur of the demolitions and evictions being carried out by the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the name of so-called anti-encroachment drive.

They informed the UN official that the drive was basically aimed at grabbing the land of Kashmiris, particularly Muslims, and handing over the same to the Indian Hindus to get permanently settled there. They said in this way the Modi regime wants to implement its colonial settler plan to turn the Muslim majority into a minority in the occupied territory.

The delegation members further told the Special Rapporteur that the Modi regime has also carried out the delimitation of constituencies in IIOJK and increased the number of seats in Hindu majority Jammu region to implement its Hindutva agenda and install a Hindu Chief Minister in the territory in the future.

The Kashmiri representatives deplored that the international actors have slowly accepted the status quo which is depriving the Kashmiris their right to self-determination. They said India is committing human rights violations in the name of development in IIOJK.

The delegation comprised Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan, Mrs Shamim Shawl, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Advocate Parvez Shah, Dr Shagufta Ashraf, Dr Waleed Rasool, Dr Saira Shah, and Mrs Niyla Altaf Kanyi.
