India gives away mining sites along LoC in IIOJK to Israeli company on 99 years lease

In utter violation of the UN-recongized disputed status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi has awarded contract of mining in two sites, located along the Line of Control in Kupwara on 99 years lease, to an Israeli company.

This has been confirmed by a leaked official agreement of lease between the Indian government and the Israel-based Arava Mines firm. The agreement has come to fore wherein the Israeli company has been given Nichahama and Hangnikott mining sites in the occupied territory.

As per the document signed on 15 March 2023, the tenure of the lease will be 99 years. The agreement says that the lease is between Indian Ministry of Mines, Geology and Mining Depratment J&K and Israel based Arava Mines.

The handover of the Michahama and Hangnikott sites will take place in the presence of the Indian Ministry of Mines, Director of Geology and Mining J&K and officials of the Arava Mines including its CEO on July 24, 2023.

It is to be noted that Nichahama and Hangnikkot areas in Kupwara district have huge deoposits of lignite and have huge potential of thermal power generation. Both the area are close to the Line of Control.
