Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has said that the Indian Supreme Court’s recent verdict on occupied Jammu and Kashmir is a part of Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party’s attempts to further its agenda in the territory.

The APHC-AJK leaders at a meeting chaired by the Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar said the BJP wants to grab the properties and natural resources of the people of occupied Kashmir. They said that such dictatorial thinking, which is against the established principles of justice and law, cannot suppress the resistance of the Kashmiri people against the Indian occupation.

The leaders maintained that the Indian apex court through a just decision could provide relief to the Kashmiris but it seems that under the influence of BJP the judges of the Supreme Court have preferred to satisfy the collective conscience of the people of India just like their fellow judges did in the cases of demolition of Babri Masjid and hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru.

The participants of the meeting said Modi’s fascist Indian government has unleashed the worst oppression in the occupied territory. They said there has been an alarming increase in the violence against the people of IIOJK as well as the Muslims and other minorities in India since Modi came to power in 2014. They said India is bent upon the genocide of Kashmiris to change the demographic composition of the occupied territory. They pointed out that the Kashmiris are rendering sacrifices for a great cause and despite the Indian state terrorism they are determined to take their freedom movement to its logical end.

The leaders thanked the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar for reiterating Pakistan’s support to the just struggle of Kashmiri people. They appealed to the international community to put pressure on India to settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and Kashmiris’ aspirations.

The participants expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the elder brother of Hurriyat leader, Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh, in occupied Kashmir and extended condolence to the bereaved family members of the deceased.

The meeting was attended among others by Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Imtiaz Wani, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Nisar Mirza, Javed Iqbal Butt, Muhammad Sultan Butt, Advocate Pervez Ahmed, Raja Khadim Hussain, Syed Mushtaq, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Abdul Majeed Lone, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Kafiyat Hussain Rizvi, Zahid Safi, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Gulshan Ahmed and Manzoor Ahmed Dar.
