In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of bulldozing the Indian Constitution and the saffron party’s leaders of “outdoing each other in stripping Muslims” of their homes and livelihood in India.
She was referring to the demolition of over 50 structures of people by the authorities following the anti-Muslim riots on the occasion of the Hindu festival, Ram Navami, in Khargone district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
“The vengeance with which the BJP is bulldozing India’s Constitution has now reached the homes of minorities. BJP leaders are outdoing each other in stripping Muslims of everything, be it their homes, livelihood and dignity,” Mehbooba Mufti said in a series of tweets. She said the silence of the majority (Hindu) community was deeply worrying.
“As Kashmiri Muslims, we are often accused of being silent spectators while Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee. But the criminal silence of the majority community (Hindus) in today’s India while the BJP wrecks the very idea of India is deeply worrying and problematic,” Mehbooba Mufti added.
