Washington: In a significant development, Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun referring to Jammu and Kashmir as a “disputed” territory has stated that a referendum was the only way to settle the conflict over Jammu and Kashmir peacefully.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who is based in the United States, in a video statement pointing to the recent incidents in Poonch and Rajouri districts said that they were “consequence of India’s violence against the Kashmiris”.

“I urge Kashmiri freedom fighters to organise and hold the Kashmir referendum, just as ‘Sikhs For Justice’ (SFJ) is holding the Khalistan referendum to challenge Punjab’s association with India,” he said.

It is worth mentioning here that Hindutva-led Modi government has has made a foiled assassination attempt on him in the US.
