Very tough time ahead as hatred is increasing and history is being distorted: Justice Abhay Thipsay

Lucknow: India should brace for even more challenging times ahead with an increased risk of distortion of history and religion to whip up the already charged atmosphere of communal hatred, said former judge of Bombay High Court Justice Abhay Mahadeo Thipsay while underlining the need for prompt action to prevent the country from going to the point of no return.

Addressing a meet of All India Lawyers Council (AILC), Justice Thipsay called for immediate check on the trend of mythologising history and historizing mythology failing which the next generation would be left to live with weird and bizarre facts.

“In past you were oppressed and persecuted”, this narrative is being propelled by media and certain section of academia to punish certain people. By setting the narrative, some people can get some political benefits, but the society as a whole will face the consequences, he added.

Throwing light on the present situation of the country’s judicial system, he said if the victim is weak, nobody takes notice. “It’s very difficult to complain against a powerful person. “AILC will try to intervene in the beginning to ensure justice for those who have no means. If we succeed in this, the criminals will be discouraged,” he said.

On the occasion, former principal of VIVA College of Law Dr. Batul Hamid, who came to light after she was forced to resign from the college for wearing hijab, said that Article 19(1) (a) of the constitution of India gave us freedom what to were or not. Article 15(1) , Article 15 (3) ,Article 21 which says that there shall be no discrimination , while Article 15 (3) there can be no against the women and Right to wear a clothes according to its own choice is a part of personal liberty which is stated in Article 21 and according to Article 51A (e) it is the duty of every citizen to oppose those tradition which denounce the dignity of the women, she said.

Training is very vital for an organization, said former ADGP Bijendra Singh while urging to organize training camps for the lawyers.

Justice Ravindra Singh, the president of AILC gave some very useful tips to the lawyers.

Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmad, Secretary General of AILC said that AILC will try to ensure justice to the unprevaileged and deprived people from the society.

Adv.Khwaja Jaweed Yusuf, Adv Haider Ali , Adv. Huma  Yunus and Adv Santosh Jadhav  also addressed the gathering . The program was conducted by Adv. B D Nishad.

Syed Farman Ahmad Naqvi and Mohammad Tasleem were elected as President and General Secretary respectively of AILC, UP.
