A ten year old boy who lost his hand to  Israeli bombing cried asking his mother” I  do not have a hand now and how would I play  ? What could the  the starving  mother who lost her  husband and  the three children to Israel  bombing could  say.?Wiping her tears she could only raise  her hands high asking God to help. In yet another case a beautiful early teenage  girl  who lost both her legs asked her mother whether she will ever be normal or suffer rest of  her life like this.

These are two of the hundreds of thousands  of boys and girls ,victims of  US-British- European backed on going Israeli   genocide which has already   slaughtered thousands of Palestinian men, women, children and the aged alike and turned Gaza into a killing field.

Of the 2.3 million Palestinian population in Gaza  there is hardly  a family which has not suffered due to  on going Israeli genocide which began  since 8 October  2023, the day after Palestinian freedom fighters Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023. Since then Israeli  killing spree  of Palestinian civilians continues unabated daily-  killing on an average 150 to 200 Palestinians  besides daily bombing and destroying buildings.

Imagine the  miserable plight of hundreds of thousands  of  Palestinian men, women children and the aged, buried  in the rubble of destroyed buildings.They are harmless people suffered for decades under Israel oppression.They die inside the collapsed buildings.

Today , supported by US, Canada,Britain,France ,Germany, other European countries and India ,  Israel has turned  Gaza into  a ghost city  .According to reports 85 percent of all buildings  were reduced to rubble while the society as a whole was virtually destroyed. leaving hundreds of thousands of breadwinners killed, children orphaned  , widowed women who lost their bread winners and  other such innocent victims of  endless Israeli barbarity.

Over 75% of the 2.3 million  total population of Gaza has been forced to leave their homes in precarious and unsafe conditions. It is estimated that 500,000 of those who’ve been displaced have no home to return to. Entire neighbourhood have been turned into rubble and families are forced to try and survive in inadequate, harsh and cramped living conditions.

Hundreds of thousands  are in makeshift shelters, in cars, or even in the open areas desperately trying to find even some cardboard to protect against the elements.

Relentless bombing destroyed the economy and crippled  the economy   forcing people to starve. This was aggravated by Israel depriving Palestinians jobs in the other  occupied areas.Demonstrating its evil and cruel nature,Israel deprived Palestinians of water,food,electricity,fuel and all other essential  items needed to survive  from the day after the Hamas attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023.

Strictly implementing this inhuman policy Israel blocked all aid convoys entering Gaza to ensure the Palestinians starve to death.  On an average 500 trucks entered Gaza with essential items prior to October 7.However this number was reduced  to trickle  forcing  people to starve  .

The water problem became so acute that people started drinking  unclean water causing many ailments. A catastrophic lack of food in Gaza means that families are going for days without a meal. The entire population of Gaza – is experiencing food insecurity at crisis level or above.Hunger is ravaging Gaza, and this is expected to increase illness across the Strip, most acutely among children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and older people.

Around 95 per cent of households are limiting meals and portion sizes, with 64 per cent of households eating only one meal a day. Over 95 per cent of households said they had restricted the amount of food adults received in order to ensure small children had food to eat.

“Gaza has become a death zone”: World Health Organization Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says “inhumane” health and humanitarian situation worsens.  Already United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)  suspended of all humanitarian aid to the northern parts of the Gaza Strip. The estimated 400,000 people still languishing in Gaza City and the surrounding areas have barely received any aid for months due to Israel’s blockade. Reports have surfaced of families surviving on animal feed.

With the health system on its knees, those facing the deadly combination of hunger and disease are left with few options.“On Sunday, February 18   the aid  convoy was surrounded by crowds of hungry people close to the Wadi Gaza checkpoint.  UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese referred to a “total collapse of civil order” across the enclave. Noting the WFP’s decision to suspend aid to the north, she added, “Imagine as a parent having to fight to get food for your child who is dying of hunger. … Shame on all of us for allowing this betrayal of humanity.”

This horrendous situation is the deliberate outcome of Israel’s genocidal onslaught on Gaza, which has already claimed the lives of well over 30,000 people.  Israel has intentionally prevented aid from reaching Gaza, using food as a weapon of war.As the World Socialist Web Site noted  , this policy is akin to the strategy of the Nazis during World War II towards the Jews, who were left to rot in the ghettos, where many died of starvation and disease before the survivors were shipped to concentration camps.

The catastrophe confronting the Palestinians in Gaza continues to worsen due to the unrestrained support extended to Israel by US imperialism and its European allies. It was under these circumstance that on Tuesday February 20 Washington used its veto in the UN Security Council to block a resolution calling for a ceasefire called  by Algeria    at the discretion of Israel’s far-right government that has repeatedly declared its intent to conduct a genocide against the Palestinians.
