The incarcerated senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has urged the international community to take cognizance of the worsening political and human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah in his message from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail expressed concern over the unending Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory. He deplored that Indian troops and secret agencies were killing innocent civilians to achieve their sinister designs.

The APHC leader termed the recent killing of civilians in Dangri area of Rajouri district as a handiwork of the Indian secret agencies to malign the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle. Four Hindus were killed in the firing of unidentified gunmen in Dangri on January 01, 2023.

Shabbir Shah said the Indian Army has a notorious track record of killing people to serve their vested interests. He said that massacre of 35 Sikhs at Chittisinghpura area of Islamabad district and killing of 23 Hindus at Wandhama in Ganderbal district speak volumes about the deadly violence India has been using as a state policy to paint a negative picture of Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation struggle.

The APHC leader demanded an independent investigation into the recent killings in Dangri. He said that it was quite astonishing to see that these killings were being used as a pretext to revive the so-called Village Defence Committees (now Village Defence Guards) and create a ground to arm the Hindutva activists in the district.

Shabbir Shah also condemned the persecution of Muslim youth and continued cordon and search operations in Dangri. He said that following the incident Indian police have arrested dozens of innocent youth in the area. He said that the police have dubbed the arrested youth as militants to justify their illegal detention.

He urged the international community to hold India accountable for the war crimes its forces’ personnel are committing in the occupied territory.
