Settler colonialism project has begun’, Mehbooba on entry of non-locals in IIOJK voter list

Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti lambasting at the Modi-led Indian government over the inclusion of non-locals in the voter list of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir said the settler colonial project has started in the territory with the latest order.

In yet another anti-Kashmiris’ move by the Hindutva regime, revenue officials in Jammu have been authorized to issue certificate of residence to all the Indian nationals residing in the region for more than one year to enable their entry to the voter lists.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a new order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu region has ordered revenue officials to issue certificates of residence to the Indian people residing in the territorial jurisdiction of Jammu for more than one year. This anti-Kashmiris’ move will enable the Indian to get entry into the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls in IIOJK.

Mehbooba Mufti wrote in a tweet, “ECI’s [Election Commission of India] latest order for registration of new voters makes it clear that GOIs [Govt of India] colonial settler project has been initiated in Jammu. They will bear the first blow to Dogra culture, identity, employment & business” .

Mehbooba Mufti further said, “BJPs attempts to create religious & regional divisions between Jammu & Kashmir must be thwarted because whether its a Kashmiri or a Dogra, safeguarding our identity & rights will be possible only if we put up a collective fight.”
