SRI LANKAN DIASPORA’S PROTEST DEMONSTRATION AGAINST INDIA IN-FRONT OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE IN GENEVA,SWITZERLAND

An anti-India protest took place in front of the headquarters of the Human Rights Commission in the evening of September27^, 2021 to bring Geneva’s attention to India’s atrocities. They have stated that India has been widely accused of interfering in the affairs of South Asian countries with the United States in order to maintain its political position and to continue to control South Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal.

Participants opined that the neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and etc. are being affected by the Indian expansionism as each country has their own culture, politics and economics but all of other South Asian countries have to ask permission from India whether we can do this or that. India is taking away the rights of each country to rule their own people and do what is best for their citizens.

In addition, in the aftermath of the war, India has been strengthening the Tamil Diaspora as a very strong body to interfere in Sri Lankan affairs and doing massive propaganda campaignfor the world community to act against Sri Lanka. Moreover, it is known to 90 percent of the Sri Lankan people that the India is fully involved in the Easter bombing in Sri Lanka. It is also notable that India has concealed and protected Sarah Pulasthini, one of the most important masterminds in the Easter bombing. This news has been spoken in the media many times by state and opposition politicians.

Indian expansionism designs are historical as India has always made Sri Lanka and other countries in the same region suffer politically, religiously, economically, and culturally. Sri Lankans have to accept all of the demands from Indians, both willingly and unwillingly. Problems have been forced upon the Sri Lankans, which has made the developmental rate of Sri Lanka standstill and impacted Sri Lanka significantly.

The report further states that India has a history of forty to fifty years of using its intelligence services to incite ethnic conflicts, form armed groups, pay mercenaries, and carry out bomb attacks within countries not bound to India. Political observers say that it is a hidden fact that India fully stood behind the LTTE and the war against the Sri Lankan government for a long time.

Indian expansionism has made Sri Lanka and other countries in the same region hindered independent implementation of projects in countries in the region.

Participants also criticized the silence of UN and other international organizations on the expansionism of India. They questioned the problem in Kashmir, border conflicts in the region of India as they believe the silence of international community has allowed India for what they have been doing. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of giving back Sri Lanka, as well as other countries the rights to rule their own countries and citizens in ways that the countries want.

Protest was organized at a time when the Geneva conference is currently taking place in Geneva and being talked about Sri Lanka.
